The younger moorland plantations hold breeding Black Grouse and Short-eared Owl and the birchwoods of the upland glens ring with the song of Willow warblers, Tree Pipits, Redstarts and Spotted Flycatchers in spring.

Thoughtful host left us some scones, cream and jam and a bottle of wine. The cottage was also equipped with tea and coffee which is always welcome. Only niggle - you may want to take ear plugs if you are a light sleeper as the front bedroom faces the main road.

We would love to return in the future. The property is ideally located a short stroll from the centre of town with many options for eating, drinking and shopping. The cottage itself is very cosy, clean and well appointed.

Parking no problem as a free public car park 60m away. Only niggle is road noise.
