This holiday was booked and paid for by my husband and I as a special treat. Firstly there are a lot of positve things about the hotel, the location is great, the pool is lovely with lots of sun beds there was never any sun bed wars and the hotel is very clean.
The bar area, spa area and rooms were comfortable and modern. We had no problem with our rooms and the food was generally of a good standard. The al a carte was a highlight of our holiday and a big shout out goes to Gavanos the waiter in the al a carte who couldn't do enough for us.
The negative aspects did in the end outweigh the positives, which is a shame. We paid to stay all inclusive but unfortunately the hotel isn't geared to be all inclusive so I strongly recommend the hotel group reviews what board it offers to it's customers.
As in previous reviews the queues to get into the restaurant were massive every day and we had to queue on average between mins per day to give our room numbers at the desk, there was never an issue getting a table, the issue was the meet and greet service, this urgently needs reviewing and I complained to our Jet2 rep and the manager about We travelled in July as a party of 10 and we were really looking forward to our stay. I don't go on holiday to spend approx 1.
This holiday was booked and paid for by my husband and I as a special treat. In this country we are not threatened by deportation or imprisonment in a cell, however nicely decorated, for political expression, though our laws of sedition have been applied in the past with great force — to silence Te Whiti, for example, or Harry Holland, while those defamation suits place some restraint on any impulse to publish that which might discredit or cause others to shun and avoid. Williams, Ty Dyfrig, Llandaff.
If the whole of the hotel was all inclusive then the meet and greet service wouldn't be required. The same goes for the pool bar and the evening bar, one day my dad queued at the pool bar for 30 mins for 4 bottles of small waters. If the hotel was completely all inclusive things like water and a coffee machine would cut down the significant amount of queuning.
However this isn't the only reason for the queues, not only are there not enough staff in the restaurant, pool bar and evening bar, but most of the staff that they did have were agency staff.
This is also true of the reception which again delivered a poor service. We asked a long standing member of staff why things were so bad and they told us that the hotel group had cut all the staff's wages signifcanlty so all the expereinced staff left and to fill the gaps the hotel had to resort to using agency staff that were costing them three times as much. Other comments on trip advisor suggest that the staff are miserable but I guess I would be if I was being paid less than previous years, asked to work more and then having to work alongside inexperienced staff.
Unfortunately this was evident in the restaurant and bars and there didn't appear to be any management or supervisors organising and coordinating service delivery. The food was constantly running out and it could take up to 20 mins to replenish and this was simple things like bread???
One day the breakfast chef only one was making pancakes, fying eggs and making omlettes, she was completely over whelmed by orders.
And lastly trying to get a drink of any sort was painful, at first we thought it was because we were all inclusive but we realised the poor service extended to those that were paying as well. Yet every drink order was wrong and when you've waited for mintues for them to come back with your drink you're hoping you get what we've ordered, we did make a game out of it i.
One night they got the order spot on and we all cheered, sadly this was never repeated and most nights you needed a strong drink to help you through the very random and often poor entertainment. So to conclude we paid the best part of 13K for a special holiday that didn't fulfil it's status of a 4 star hotel. There are significant management and organisation issues and not only would I not consider going back which is a shame because the location is brilliant I wouldn't recommend it to others.
The Vila Gale group seriously needs to review what this hotel is capable of delivering because right now it's certainly not a 4 star hotel.
